Understanding EEOICPA Benefits
From the 1940s to the 1970s, nuclear weapons workers served their country without knowing the full extent of the risks. Many were exposed to radiation and toxic substances without proper safety protections, leading to long term health issues, including cancer and respiratory diseases.
In 2000, the federal government passed the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), offering medical benefits and compensation to these nuclear weapons workers and their families.
The Claims Process
Applying for an EEOICPA White Card requires much documentation and background information, but not to worry—Unifi Healthcare will walk with you through the entire process.
The Nuclear Workers Institute of America (NWIA), part of the Unifi Alliance, would love to help you through this process, as they are trained professionals who know all the intricacies of applying for the EEOICPA claims.
The White Card
Those who apply for the Energy Employees Program (EEOICPA) and are awarded medical benefits will be issued a “white card.”
Similar to a standard insurance card, whenever patients receive medical care related to an accepted illness, they will show this card to have the costs covered under the EEOICPA entitlement.
The card can cover a wide variety of medical services including in-home care.
